CCC graduate Mike Prendergast is running to represent Florida in Congress.

He is the republican candidate for District 11 and hopes to obtain victory over his opponent, Kathy Castor.

A native from Tampa, Prendergast graduated from the school in 1975.  He is a retired military serviceman after 31 years.

Prendergast is fighting for a simpler, more just tax system and also calls for a reduction on taxes, as well.  In addition, he advocates strengthening the American military system.

Advancement Services Manager Beth Lani believes that news of Prendergast’s running for Congress might encourage CCC students to go after their ambitions.

“Students might be inspired the more we get the word out,” Mrs. Lani said.

The congressional election takes place Nov. 2.
