Is Shrek’s so called “sidekick” ready to take on his own feature film?  That was the big question `everybody had after DreamWorks announced a spinoff centered around everybody’s favorite feline character.

Well, not only was Puss in Boots ready to perform, but he did it with the same traits and characteristics we all loved from his adventure in Shrek.  The story is about how Puss (Antonio Banderas) discovers the “magic beans” he has been searching for are actually real and he goes off to steal them from the grasps of Jack and Jill (Billy Bob Thornton and Amy Sedaris).

Puss teams up with Kitty Softpaws (Salma Hayek), and old friend Humpty Dumpty (Zack Galifianakis) to go and acquire his “magic beans”. While most of the movie was very enjoyable with funny jokes, impressive animations, and interesting storylines, there were a few dull moments.

At some points in the movie, I found myself questioning the importance of particular scenes and characters.  It seemed like the writers decided to add some extras just to take up some time in the film.

Despite the few dull characters and scenes, Puss in Boots was overall a very enjoyable movie that anybody can enjoy.  DreamWorks did a great job of making a spinoff where not only young movie-goers could enjoy, but also adults of any age.

Like any film, not everything is going to be flawless, but DreamWorks was very near purrfection.
